An ideological chasm lay between my grandmother and my mother — between blind obedience to the kibbutz framework and uncompromising individualism that questioned what was taken for granted.
The film traces their relationship across a lifetime: childhood on the kibbutz and in the children’s houses, adolescence, aging, forgetting, and death.
After my grandmother passed away, we discovered boxes of material — 8mm films, negatives, slides. Everything was digitized. A lifetime unfolded as files on a hard drive.
Hours of conversations with my mother were recorded, edited, and shaped into the text that carries the film — a raw reflection on a long, tangled, and quietly loving bond.
The film was created as a graduation project, mentored by Naomi Giger and Naama Tobias.
